If a Man can Bridge the Gap Between Life and Death: Background
Jeon Jungkook grew up with two loving parents and a talented older brother. His family was the ideal image of warm and loving, dinner a sacred time together, going on family vacations, and attending family events. Jungkook never considered himself the most filial son, his older brother always there to achieve the high grades, compete in all of the sports and still make time to help their mother make kimchi. It was all going well and Jungkook never envisioned anything changing...until that day.
It was the summer before Jungkook's thirteenth birthday. He and his brother were at their favorite set of cliffs, running along the rocks, watching the waves far below crash against the rocks. Jungkook, never one to consider the dangers of his actions before he did them, climbed higher onto one of the rocks that jetted over the cliff edge. He wanted a better view of the sea. When he reached the top and waved his older brother to follow him up, Jungkook never foresaw the events that followed. Instead of climbing up the rock, his brother chose an alternate route of one of the arching, older trees, its branches stretching out over the cliff, paving its way for his brother to join him in the seascape with a more intimate view.
It all happened way too quickly, as most people retell their tragic tales. He saw his brother slip, and deeming it as any other time he'd slip and catch himself, Jungkook thought nothing of it--until his brother cried out. Jungkook couldn't remember a time he ran faster in his life, his short legs carrying him over the rocks, nearly tripping, his ankles bruising from the impact. He reached the tree and all rationality left him as the desperation to save his brother took over. Jungkook doesn't know how he made it, but he remembers both of his small hands wrapping around his brother's wrist. It was the terrifying blend of the sea crashing below with his brother's fearful eyes as the tree that bound its roots into the rock was the only line keeping them both 100 meters in the air.
That was the last of his brother Jungkook ever saw. He can barely recall the pleas of his brother over the ocean to tell him to let go. He can barely remember the strain of his fingers and the pull of his arm as he refuses to let go. He can also barely retell the way he felt fingers prying at his hands, forcing him...to let go. Jungkook wished nothing more that day, than to be stronger, than to have the ability to lift his brother with just a pinky, to save him from the depths of being swallowed into sea and rocks, where his body was never recovered.
The day his brother died is the day that marks the birthing seed of his power.
From there, his family deteriorated. His mother became depressed, reclusing into a shell that no longer smiled, no longer cooked those family dinners. She became distant and cold and Jungkook couldn't pinpoint the last time she said his name. While his mother grew apart, his father grew closr, overbearingly so. The loss of the eldest son put all of the family responsibilities on Jungkook. He was still fresh faced and young, but his father would scold him for scoring anything less than an A, for not participating in every sport offered, for not being the family star stud like his brother. Jungkook only realized the day his father accidentally called him, Junghyun, and didn't notice his mistake, that Jungkook knew...he was no longer with parents that even knew who he was.
Jungkook meets a boy from the sea, a boy who plays by the sea. Starved and young, the boy takes him under his wing and upon discovering he also has powers, brings him back to Seoul. The boy with the people at the mansion raise him better than his own blood-parents. Although Jungkook never speaks of his family, he's learned the key phrase, 'Chosen Family', and he's glad he's chosen this life.
Only the Gentle Are Ever Strong: Personality
Jungkook is an introvert and shy. He's used to being more independent and as he's grown up only being close to a small ring of people, it's hard for him to break out of his shell and make friends.
Jungkook is blunt and straightforward. Never liking the flowery langauge of beating around the bush, Jungkook prefers to be direct. Sure, sometimes his words aren't the kindest, but it's what he thinks. Along with his tactless social skills, Jungkook is an embarrassment to the universe with his inability to talk to the opposite gender. Girls are as myterious and foreign as Mars, but at least Mars is far away and Jungkook doesn't have to avoid it every time it comes near.
Jungkook is two sides to a coin. One minute he'll be collected and aloof, observant and watching from the sidelines, then the next without warning, he'll be off the wall and random, uanble to contain his abounding energy. On this same coin he's arrogant and modest. He knows what he's good at and hates to lose, his competitive side always winning. But when it comes to other people praising him and his accomplishments, he's quick to critique all the ways in which he still needs to grow.
Jungkook is reckless. A part of him is always testing the fine line between life and death, redefining what dangeorus means.
Jungkook is all-rounded and talented. He's a quick learner and anything he tries, he can quickly excel in it.
Jungkook is a perfectionist. He has his passions and he enters manic obsessions, never feeling quite satisfied.
Jungkook loves to clean. It may be a little OCD, but he obsessively does laundry, cleans his side of the room, takes frequent showers and brushes his teeth at least three times a day.
Appreciate the Beauty with Which this World is Endowed:
Gravity Manipulation
Still in the process of discovering his full capabilities of manipulating gravity. At the foundational level, Jungkook can change the gravitational weight of himself, other people and objects around him. From the playful way of making his closest hyung light as a feather so he can toss him across the room, to making himself stubbornly heavy so that no one can move him, much like a dog who doesn't want to go out into the freezing cold.
Jungkook can muster up small amounts of gravity to leverage his punches or pushes. On a few occasions he's been able to use the force of gravity to even push people without laying a hand on them.
He can use his control of gravity and his own weight to easily climb to high places, run along walls for longer than the average human, and jump just a bit higher. These are useful tricks for his adventurous side. However, when he's mentally drained or physically exhausted, he overestimates his ability and often hurts himself.
Jungkook hasn't tapped into many parts of his powers yet. He isn't aware that he can adapt his own gravity, or weight, to negate the effects of no gravity zones and denser places.
He also hasn't mastered the ability to fly. Jungkook can make other objects and people levitate for a short second, but when it comes to the phenomena of flight of flight for himself, he's still figuring it out.
On the darker side of his powers, he hasn't attained the ability to conjure black holes that suck up matter around it, causing any object pulled into the holes to be ripped to shreds.
You are All Alone with Your Concentration and Imagination: Present Life
Jungkook is still in his third year of high school. After running away from home, he missed a year of schooling. As the oldest third year student at the private school his hyung sends him to, he's grown disillusioned to the schooling system in general. He'll often skip class and go off to play games at the nearby PC bang or the arcade.
Jungkook also spends his evenings doing 'school clubs.' That's code for Jungkook joining a martial arts club, which is further code for Jungkook finding a group of neighborhood guys who gather just for the fun of beating shit up. It's convenient for Jungkook to be seen as the most skilled fighter with his secret use of his powers.
If Jungkook is seen with anyone, it's usually Park Jimin. They room together at the mansion, and for a short time Jungkook stayed with Jimin at his campus dorm. Between semesters at school or during holiday vacations, he and Jimin will spend that time traveling. They've been all across the world, mostly Southeast Asia and South America. Jungkook's favorite place he's been to so far is Machu Picchu. He thinks his nickname should be JungleKook where he can live with the wild animals.
